Network Rail – Modular HSS Switchgear (NSCD)

Introduction
The Negative Short Circuit Device (NSCD) provides a short-circuit path between the DC Traction Supply and the Negative Return to protect against the inadvertent re-energisation of the circuit. The NSCD can be operated remotely via a SCADA Interface, locally via a Local Control Panel and at the NSCD itself for maintenance. Modules arrive prefabricated with all the internal works completed. We have installed these across many sites while working with Bam Nuttall.
Modular HSS Switchgear
A NSCD modular site is the installation on a prefabricated module with HSS Switchgear installed. It is then the site install teams’ task to complete the 750v wiring and final connections, module LVAC supply, control, and indication wiring to the NSCD marshalling cabinet.
