Network Rail – HSS Switchgear (NSCD)

Introduction

The Negative Short Circuit Device (NSCD) provides a short-circuit path between the DC Traction Supply and the Negative Return to protect against the inadvertent re-energisation of the circuit. The NSCD can be operated remotely via a SCADA Interface, locally via a Local Control Panel and at the NSCD itself for maintenance. HSS switchgear has been installed within substations. We have installed these across many sites while working with Bam Nuttall.

HSS Switchgear

HSS NSCD Switchgear is a manufacturer of panel installed within substations. They are delivered to site in single sections. It is then the site teams’ task to bolt the panels together, installing all bus bars, inter-wiring between panels and complete external trunking routes for integration of supply, control, and indication wiring.
